Lucara Diamond Corp. (TSX:LUC) announced the appointment of Paul Day as the Company’s new Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Day’s appointment is effective as of April 15, 2013 and he will be based in Botswana to be close to operations at the Karowe Mine.
Lucara Diamond Corp. (TSX:LUC) announced the Company’s fourth quarter 2012 results. The Karowe Diamond Mine in Botswana was successfully built and commissioned and it produced a total of 303,000 carats from 1.4 million tonnes of ore, exceeding guidance by 12%. The Company sold 215,762 carats for $54.6 million at an average sale price of $253 per carat.
Afri-Can Marine Minerals Corporation (TSXV:AFA) and Diamond Fields International Ltd announced an option agreement that enables the Company to acquire a 90% interest in diamond Mining Leases in the region of Luderitz. The option agreement is valid for two years. Mining Lease 111 has a historical resource of 950,000 carats of gem quality diamonds. The Company entered in the option with Woduna Mining Holding (PTY) Ltd, who is their Namibian partner.
Afri-Can Marine Minerals Corporation (TSXV:AFA) completed the acquisition of a 20% interest in the Exclusive Prospecting Licence 3403 marine diamond concession in Namibia. Thyme Investments (Pty) Ltd. is the sole owner of the Exclusive Prospecting Licence, and exchanged 20% of their common shares for common shares of the Company.
Stornoway Diamond Corporation (TSX:SWY) entered into option agreements with 0954506 B.C. Ltd. to option the Qilalugaq, Pikoo and Timiskaming exploration projects. The Optionee will acquire an 80% interest in each of the projects upon completion of a defined exploration program, which is specific to each project.
Diamcor Mining Inc. (TSXV:DMI) completed expansion upgrades at the Krone-Endora at Venetia project. The expansion upgrades included the procurement, delivery, construction, and installation of the vast majority of equipment and infrastructure on the project.
